WHY IT WORKS THIS WAY

When I started Mercer Shift Media, I didn't want to charge coaches a monthly retainer whether or not the advertising brought them a single new client.

I wanted our success to be connected. So instead of a management fee, I earn 10% of qualifying revenue you actually collect from qualifying purchases by new leads from the advertising we manage.

Straight up: that doesn't make advertising risk-free. You still pay for your own ad spend, and there's no guarantee it will lead to sales. But if it doesn't produce qualifying revenue, I don't earn a fee. Simple as that.

THE POTENTIAL

What could $1,000 in advertising actually mean for your business?

A thousand dollars in advertising can feel like a significant investment to some people. The number worth understanding isn't just what you spend. It's what could happen when the right people discover your work and some of them become paying clients.

Hypothetical example: not a prediction or guarantee.

What this example assumes

  • Twenty leads from US$1,000 in Meta advertising, and six of them (30%) becoming paying clients.
  • All six clients pay in full, and all of that collected revenue is qualifying revenue under our terms. Our 10% applies only to qualifying revenue actually collected.
  • Ad spend is paid directly to Meta. US$1,000 is also the minimum budget for the initial 30-day test.

Actual results depend on factors including audience, advertising costs, offer, pricing, lead quality, sales process and client conversion. Twenty leads and a 30% conversion rate are illustrative assumptions, not typical or promised results.

BEFORE WE ADVERTISE

Not every business is ready for paid advertising.

Advertising can create opportunities. It can't make an unclear offer compelling, fix a broken sales process, or turn every interested person into a paying client.

That's why we start with an assessment.

Before recommending a campaign, I want to understand your offer, your pricing, how you currently attract clients, and what happens when someone expresses interest.

Sometimes advertising makes sense. Sometimes there are things to fix first. And sometimes it's just not the right investment. I'll tell you that.

THE 90/10 SPLIT

See how the numbers work.

Adjust the two amounts to try an illustration. The chart shows a 90/10 split of qualifying revenue actually collected. Your Meta ad spend is separate and paid directly to Meta. Actual fees depend on which purchases qualify under the signed Client Agreement.

  • Mercer Shift Media fee 10%$300Only on revenue actually collected

The one fixed number: The initial 30-day test has a minimum Meta advertising budget of US$1,000, which you pay directly to Meta. International clients may use a local-currency equivalent based on a published exchange rate agreed and documented at kickoff. Every other amount here is a hypothetical example.

These are illustrative calculations, not predictions or guarantees. Advertising may produce little or no qualifying revenue.

THE INITIAL TEST

Start with a 30-day test.

Instead of a long commitment, we begin with one focused test and look at the results together.

  1. Before launch

    Preparation

We research your audience and offer, develop the messaging and creative, and set up tracking and campaigns. The 30-day clock hasn't started yet.

Launch happens within three weeks of kickoff, as long as the access, information, approvals and footage we need arrive when agreed.

  2. The 30-day clock starts when your ads go live

    Days 1–30

    30-Day Test

The test begins the day your ads go live, with a minimum US$1,000 advertising budget that you fund directly through Meta. You get a plain-language update every week.

A significant interruption that prevents campaign delivery can pause the test clock. We document the reason and pause and resumption dates in writing.

  3. Day 30

    Review Together

We look honestly at what actually happened: spend, leads, bookings, sales, bottlenecks, and what to change, stop, continue or test next.

It's a diagnostic review, not a promise of sales or profitability. No result at Day 30 automatically ends or continues our work together.

After the test

If we both want to continue, we carry on month to month. Either of us can end active campaign management with seven days' written notice. You can also end it before launch or during the test with written notice.

Ending active management stops the campaigns and weekly updates, but it doesn't erase what's already in motion. Leads who first came in through the advertising while we worked together keep their 60-day attribution window, and qualifying purchases keep their 12-month payment tail. So the 10% can still apply to qualifying payments you collect after we stop.

People who first come in after active management ends don't count.

HOW QUALIFYING REVENUE WORKS

Three things decide what counts.

  1. Day 0

    A new lead

Someone first enters your business by submitting their details through the advertising we manage, and they weren't already a documented contact of yours.

  2. Within 60 days

    A purchase is established

A qualifying core or introductory purchase must be established within 60 calendar days. A verbal yes, an application or a booked call isn't enough. A later separate coaching-program purchase after Day 60 does not qualify just because the person bought an earlier introductory offer.

  3. For up to 12 months

    Payments are collected

Our 10% applies to payments you actually collect for that purchase in the 12 months after it was established, less refunds and chargebacks.

The 30-day test, each lead's 60-day window and each purchase's 12-month payment tail are separate clocks. None of them starts, extends or ends another.

THE DETAILS

Questions about how it works

What does the 10% apply to?

The 10% applies only to qualifying revenue actually collected, not automatically to every sale connected to advertising.

Qualifying purchases include a lead's first core coaching enrollment established within the 60-day window, items bought in that same transaction, and qualifying introductory offers established within the window. A later separate coaching-program purchase established after Day 60 does not qualify just because the person bought an earlier introductory offer.

Sales taxes don't count, and discounts or scholarships count only at the amount actually collected. It's never 10% of all your revenue or of a client's lifetime value.

Who pays for the Facebook and Instagram ads?

You do, directly to Meta, through your own ad account. We never advance, mark up or reimburse ad spend, and it's owed to Meta whatever the results.

The initial 30-day test needs a minimum budget of US$1,000. International clients may spend the agreed equivalent in their local currency, using a published exchange rate agreed and documented at campaign kickoff.

After that, budgets are agreed in writing based on the results, with no automatic monthly minimum, and we won't make material increases without your written approval.

What happens if the advertising generates no qualifying sales?

Then there's no Mercer Shift Media fee. The fee is earned only on qualifying revenue you actually collect, so booked calls, verbal commitments and no-shows don't create one.

You'd still have paid Meta for your ad spend, so this isn't risk-free. We don't guarantee leads, bookings, sales, revenue or profitability.

How do we know which customers came from the advertising?

We use a separate, access-controlled Google Sheet for each client to track attributable campaign leads, qualifying customers, revenue collected, and MSM commissions. Only customer information reasonably needed for that work is included.

We update and reconcile the records monthly. If someone first entered your records through our campaign, later visits to your website or social media don't change that. Meta-reported conversions or a customer saying "I saw your ad" do not establish attribution by themselves.

If the records can't reasonably show where someone came from, we don't bill for them.

Do existing customers or contacts count?

No. If someone was already a documented contact, such as a subscriber to your email list, a current or past client, or someone who had registered, applied, booked, inquired or talked with you about working together, they're yours, even if they later click one of our ads.

Simply following, liking or commenting on your social media doesn't make someone an existing contact. And if a couple or family enrolls together and any of them was already a contact, the whole purchase is excluded.

What happens if a customer pays in installments?

We earn 10% of each payment as you actually collect it, for up to 12 months from when the purchase was established. For example, a US$500 deposit means a US$50 fee, and a later US$2,500 payment on the same enrollment means another US$250.

Failed or uncollected payments don't count, and neither do payments collected after the 12 months end. This continues even if we've stopped working together.

What happens with refunds or chargebacks?

A refund or successful chargeback within 120 days of the payment it reverses reduces the qualifying revenue and creates a credit against future invoices.

A chargeback that's only pending doesn't change the fee unless you lose the funds. After 120 days, the fee on that payment stands.

Any remaining credit is repaid within 30 days after final reconciliation.

What happens if we stop working together?

After the 30-day test, either of us can end active campaign management with seven days' written notice. You can also end it before launch or during the test with written notice, but if you do that without cause, the finished ads stay with us. Before work begins, both of us sign a Client Agreement that sets out the binding terms.

Stopping doesn't rewrite attribution. Leads captured while we worked together keep their full 60-day window, qualifying purchases keep their 12-month payment tail, and monthly reconciliation continues until those windows, tails and refund adjustment periods close.

Once you've completed the 30-day test, you can keep using and editing the finished ads we made for your business. Your own footage, brand, ad account and data are always yours.

Are renewals, later upgrades, or referrals included?

No. Renewals and continuations, upgrades or separate programs bought later, and a client's lifetime value are all yours. So are people referred by a client the advertising brought in, unless that person independently came in through our advertising first.

Add-ons bought in the same transaction as the original enrollment do count.

Who gets this pricing?

The 10% performance-only model applies to the first six signed coaching clients. Each signed Client Agreement preserves the terms agreed with that client. Pricing for later clients has not been set.

Is this website the contract?

No. This page is a plain-English summary. Both parties must sign a detailed Client Agreement before work begins, and the signed agreement controls.
